Beach Painting

Spent the early part of the week at my happy place, Malaquite beach on Padre Island. Painting the beach is so natural and soothing to me, I created these 3 painting in a few hours while I was watching some men fish. They are acrylic on canvas boards, painted with sea water and a dash of beach sand.

Sea Secrets

So I was pretty mum in my blog about the medium of my seascapes, only a few near and dear know why this series is so special to me, so now that the month is over I think it's time to share. These painting were all created on canvas art cards, they are only about 3 inches in size. But on top of being tiny, they were all painted with bottles of nail polish, I used no other tools, just nail polish I had lying around the house, and painted with the brushes that they included. It was quite challenging, especially since I'm awful at painting my nails, but one of the most entertaining assignment I have ever given myself, and I hope everyone else can enjoy!

Sea Inspired Conclusion

Here are the final two seascapes for my February self assignment.

New Month, New Art!

February's Challenge:

To create two pieces each week, I'm still working small, and cannot have images in front of me but am using photographs for the intial idea. I want to also create a series of seascapes. The beach is a soothing place for me. Here are the first two of the month.

Week 5:

"A Rock and A Hard Place"

I think the title of this piece speaks for the inspiration, it started as an idea of an image I had in my head then evolved into this, I'm not thrilled with it but I got the job done, 5 pieces for the 5 weeks of January!
